As of today, Monday, December 7, 2020, the Town of Barnstable reverts to Step 1 of Phase III of the Commonwealth's reopening plan.
Under the Governor's COVID-19 Order #56, lower risk communities are permitted to move into Step II of Phase III of the Commonwealth’s reopening plan. A community must revert to Step I of Phase III of the Commonwealth’s reopening plan when the community is designated in the “red” category for three consecutive weekly Department of Public Health weekly reports.
Based on the most recent Department of Public Health data, the town of Barnstable remains in the state's highest risk "red" zone for COVID-19 transmission.
Edgartown, Tisbury and Nantucket are also listed with communities not designated lower risk.
